Recent Merchant Hotel Waring Street Review: "We stayed for one night and loved it so much that we returned for another night at the end of our trip. Our first night was in one of the new art deco rooms. It was absolutely superb. The room was beautifully furnished and so spacious (a deluxe room). For our second night we stayed in one of the Victorian rooms. Another beautiful room, but not as spacious  as the Art Deco style rooms. We could not fault the service. Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities are outstanding too - there is a rooftop spa with fabulous city views and the sauna has a floor to ceiling window looking out of the city. There is also a gym on the top floor with views over the city. Belfast is not that big, but the location was great as the hotel is close to the new Victoria Square shopping complex, some wonderful old pubs and St Anne's Cathedral. If you stay, make sure you take your breakfast in the Great Room. Beautiful surroundings and one of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel. If you are looking for a good restaurant we would highly recommend both Beatrice Kennedy near Queen's University (a short drive away) and the Potted Hen Bistro, which is a short walk away in St Anne's Square. I would definitely rate this as one of the best I have stayed at anywhere in the world."
